Looking for a few good people for Sec 1 MediaTech

Hi all,

Nominations are open. All current MediaTech do recommend "a few good people" before the SL camp.

Hmm.. was juz chatting with a few of the sec4s and 5s mediatech members.. Therefore wanted to post this. Maybe everyone can reply about this.. What does leadership and respect means to you? Is it juz pure leading a group of people? Is it juz pure addressing a particular person in the correct manner? Or is leadership and respect something deeper than that?

I think, tell me if Im wrong, that everyone likes to be respected, dont they? But why do many people expect others to respect them when they, in the first place, dont respect the others? Lets juz use the simplest example that we have in our everyday life, school. Would you want to respect a teacher who scolds you for no reason whatsoever? Would you want to respect a senior who throws every single thing at you? You would say no, wouldnt you? Then ask yourself, are you that kind of person? Think and reflect truthfully. Are you?

What about the tone you use when you speak to others? Even if you are speaking to a person who's of a lower ranking than you, you should not use the superior tone. Moreover if you are speaking to your seniors. Yes, you may be the in-charge of a particular event. Yes, a teacher might have told you personally to do something for him/her. But we should always use the polite tone and manner when informing someone of something. Yes, it's hard. But shouldnt we try our best? Like the camp saying:"If you can't, you must." You may be friends with the seniors, but I always think that there's a time and place for everything. Once it's time to be serious, there's no friends anymore. You get the work done properly first.

In continuation of getting work done first, I think we shouldnt be too emotional. Especially when you are a mediatech crew. Even though the others never admit, but we ourselves know that we are the most important people in the event. Music, sound, lights... Arent we the ones controlling them? Since we are that important, shouldnt we keep our emotions in check? So what if we screwed up once? We have to get on and continue to stay focus, not get upset over that little screw up. Cuz if we get upset over it, more screw ups will happen. There's no failure in life, only feedbacks. Failure is a step to success. No one's perfect. We have to think of the event as a whole, not only the part we have screwed up.

Phew~ A little long... Take ur time reading it, slowly digest and understand it. Get it in ur head and reflect. Reflect at the end of everyday... "Did I do it right?", "Was I too harsh?", "Was I too rude?", "What could I have done to make it better?", etc... It will make you grow to be a better person. (:
